5 Commercial Real Estate Events and Conferences Happening in 2021

Table of Contents

Attending commercial real estate events and conferences taking place in 2021 could help you connect with potential business partners and learn more about how to succeed in the industry. The year offers events around the United States, so you may want to go to one or two in your region. If you want to expand your reach into other markets, though, traveling to a distant event might lead to the connections you need to get started.
The following list includes some of the most exciting commercial real estate events happening in 2021.

Date: June 16-18
Location: Chicago
Apartmentalize brings together some of the Midwest’s biggest influencers in multi-family housing. The 2021 event will take place at the Chicago Convention & Visitor Bureau and the McCormick Place Convention Center.
Apartmentalize has not released its schedule for the 2021 conference. Based on past events, though, attendees can expect to participate in:

  • Education sessions covering topics like marketing, leasing, maintenance, and leadership
  • Game changer sessions where you can listen to professionals from outside the industry share their insights
  • Express education sessions that provide hands-on instruction, live demonstrations, and Q&A sessions within a 30-minute timeframe

The conference is limited to 6,200 total attendees and exhibitors, so you should register as soon as possible to secure your place.
Due to coronavirus concerns, Apartmentalize has canceled its traditional party that marks the end of the conference. Everyone at the conference will need to follow safety guidelines, including wearing masks and maintaining physical distance from others.

Date: December 5-7
Location: Las Vegas
The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) typically holds its Las Vegas RECon event at the Las Vegas Convention Center during mid-May. For 2021, ICSC has scheduled RECon for December.
ICSC is planning keynote speakers and educational sessions for the 2021 event. More information will become available as RECon grows closer. Past sessions have covered topics like:

  • Women in Leadership: How to Harness the Power of an Intergenerational Workplace
  • Work—Live—Play: Mixed-Use in the Age of COVID-19
  • How Consumers Shop
  • Alternative Uses for Retail

While it will take some time for ICSC to release details about the event, you can rely on it to give you useful information about emerging trends and diverse perspectives in the shopping center real estate industry.

Florida Conference & Deal Making

Date: Forthcoming
Location: Orlando
Another of the top commercial real estate events for 2021 coming from ICSC. The Florida Conference & Deal Making event, however, takes place in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center.
ICSC hasn’t finalized many of its 2021 events because it wants to ensure the safety of its attendees. While most people expect that COVID-19 concerns will have lessened greatly by spring, no one knows what will actually happen.
The 2020 schedule included several exciting workshops and learning opportunities that covered topics like:

  • How to Earn ICSC’s New Certification, the CRRP
  • Smokin’ Hot Retailers on the Move
  • Making deals in the retail industry

The 2021 conference should include at least one keynote speaker who will provide motivation and insights into emerging trends in the commercial real estate industry.

National Multifamily Housing Council Apartment Strategies Outlook Conference

Date: January 12, 19, and 26
Location: Virtual with an in-person event on June 8-10
The National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) usually hosts its Apartment Strategies Outlook Conference in San Diego. The 2021 conference will take place online as a webinar series.
Unfortunately, moving the event online means that you will not have many opportunities to meet other people in the industry. The good news is that NMHC has rescheduled an in-person event at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego from June 8 to 10.
NMHC and the Hyatt hotel will automatically cancel any reservations made for the canceled January event. If you want to attend the June conference, please reschedule your reservations.
Only NMHC members can attend the annual meeting and view the virtual webinars.

Inman Connect

Date: January 26-28
Location: New York City
Inman Connect touts itself as the premier event for the real estate industry. The 2021 event will include interactive sessions, more than 250 speakers, and networking opportunities where you can meet brokers, executives, investors, and tech professionals.
Inman Connect has already announced an impressive lineup of speakers that includes:

  • Nick Bailey from RE/MAX
  • Chelsea Poeitz from Fidelity National Financial
  • David Friedman from WealthQuotient
  • Skylar Olsen from Climate Check
  • Ivy Zelman from Zelman & Associates

The event has numerous sponsorships, so you don’t have to spend much on tickets. Early registration costs from $69 to $99. After the introductory rate expires, tickets will cost $140 to $199.
